Leadville Walking or Driving Tour
Take either of these self-guided tours through the Leadville Historic District and re-live the glory and tribulations of the Victorian period. Route maps are available at The Delaware Hotel's reception desk.
While The Delaware Hotel offers the largest collection of antique furniture and collectibles in the area, there are 10 other antique stores in town, each offering its own specialty. From doll collections at The Mad Hatter to multiple dealers at Western Hardware, antique-ing in Leadville is a full-day adventure and a step back in time. Mineral Belt Trail
Walk or bike this 11.5 mile loop around Leadville, accessible 2 blocks from The Delaware Hotel. The Denver Post calls this path "one of the finest bake paths in the state." Interpretive signs describe the mining sites you'll see along the way. Best of all, it's Free!
Route of the Silver Kings
Driving this 10-mile route through the mining district is truly stepping back in time. High-clearance vehicles are suggested. Access to the route is only 3 blocks from The Delaware Hotel! Free!
Self-Discovery Outdoors Summer Fun in Leadville
The Mt. Massive Golf Course--a 9-hole, par 36 course--is the highest in North America. Call 719-486-2176 for information on greens fees and tee times. Ladies...for a deliciously relaxing Sunday, consider a morning tee-off, followed by Victorian Tea at The Delaware Hotel.
4x4 Off Road Adventures
Area trailheads abound for the off-road enthusiast. An extensive off-road area map is available at the Forest Ranger Station. Several local companies offer guided back country tours in Jeeps or Hummers with convertible tops.
Established in 1889, the Leadville Fish Hatchery is the second oldest federally operated fish hatchery in existence today. Its cold, clean water provides the ideal spot for native cutthroat trout production. Ample fishing holes abound throughout Lake County. Several local companies offer guided fishing trips with instruction and equipment.
